Idaho Governor Visit
Viva Vina recently visited the Government Offices at the State of Idaho. A large focus for visiting Idaho was to meet with Idaho Governor C.L “Butch” Otter and discuss opportunities for economic development. Idaho is an important agriculture state producing many crops such as potatoes, wheat, barely, sugar beets, corn, and alfalfa just to name a few. Important industries in Idaho also include food processing, lumber and wood products, machinery, chemical products, paper products, electronics manufacturing, silver and other mining, and tourism.
The energy landscape of Idaho is favorable to the development of renewable energy systems. The state is rich in renewable energy resources but has limited fossil fuel resources. The Snake River Plain and smaller river basins provide Idaho with some of the best hydroelectric power resources in the nation and its geologically active mountain areas have significant geothermal power and wind power potential. In addition to these energy resources, Idaho is a State that has a long history of nuclear energy production. The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is located in South East Idaho and is the location where the first light bulb was powered by nuclear power. Opportunities for nuclear power production is a topic of high interest for Viva Vina in Idaho.
